About Me
Ellen Schlobohm is a paper artist, printmaker and designer working on Kaurna Country. She has an extensive exhibition history and was awarded the Adelaide Fringe Weekly Award for Best Visual Art and Design in 2019 after undertaking a residency at Nexus Arts. In 2016, her work โThe Eyesโ was selected as a finalist in the Emma Hack Art Prize. In recent years, Ellen has expanded her practice to public art, fabricating large-scale works as both permanent and temporary installations. She enjoys teaching workshops as a way to share her creativity and connect with the community. Ellen has also developed strong curatorial skills through her work with Tutti Arts, a multi-arts organisation that supports disabled artists
โI love paper for itโs simplicity and versatility. You can do so much with so little!โ

Artist Statement
My practice is driven by an interest in slow making processes and their meditative qualities. Influenced by flora and fauna, my cyanotypes and papercuts invite viewers to take a closer look at both the artwork and their own natural surroundings. Meticulously cut by hand, my intricate paper artworks create a space for reflection and contemplation. I am drawn to patterns and their symbolic meanings, often relating across cultures and communities, and like to explore the way repetition can form emphasis and meaning.
