This exhibition was the culmination of a residency undertaken at Nexus Arts by myself and fellow paper artist Janaki Lele in which we explored cultural and personal connections to paper art and papercutting. These art forms have evolved under different styles within many cultures the world over, and we reflected on these traditions through our respective heritages, cultural identities and experiences. Creating intricate and beautiful contemporary works that re-imagine the papercutting traditions of Sanjhi (India) and Scherenschnitte (Germany), s.il.hou.ette~ invited audiences to share in our skills and passion for paper.
